The Fakeness Around!

It was nice Saturday evening when i got a call from a friend of mine A to join her in a party in a nearby Pub. I was bit resistant initially as its been a long time i have met her and going uninvited to someone’s else party was like bit awkward but on top of that i knew only her there. Still, after she kept on insisting i went to the pub. It was a nice gathering of guys/gals eating, drinking, and gossiping. She introduced me to some of the ppl there and i was trying to get comfortable in that crowd of people whom i have never met.

She told me to get friendly with more and more people and try to chat up with them, make friends, feel comfortable, eat drink, enjoy. I tried to talk with some guys, tried to indulge in some group conversations but i felt out of sync everytime. I thought may be because I am meeting these people first time, i am not in the sync but after some time i started feeling alone in that crowd. Everyone was chatting up with their group etc. and she (A) was also chatting up with her friends and time to time asking me to approach people. Her idea to get to know everyone in the group. I really appreciate her efforts and the opportunity she had given me to interact with more and more people, make some new friends etc.

But one thing I have noticed about that gathering, it was the fakeness around. The fake smiles of people who just doing some kind of formality to interact with each other whom they don’t want to interact at all and the fake emotions of hugging, liking and making duck face poses for the cameras. This fakeness is clearly visible on the people face and anyone if sits with them for few hrs. will able to locate that internal hollowness in them.
Anyways, it was the nice evening J

THe Kind of Friend she is! or Was!!

So, she is a long friend of mine, S. We are like friends for some 4-5 years i guess. We have met on Orkut, moved to Facebook, long phone calls and chats and our friendship grew and grew. We share our frustrations, habits, cherishing moments, ask each other for advice, care each of them. She has taught me to be a better human being.

She is that fun loving girl that I have never met. I regret that I never got the chance to meet her but she is always on top of my thoughts. Though we had fights few times like normal friends, stopped talking for some time but both of us knew one day we will be back and we came back to our original versions, regretting and forgetting old stuff and happy again.

She is the kind of friend who care for you but give you enough space and not nagging. She had a convincing power and is full of energy and passions. She is very realistic and though provoking girl. She is the kind of friend no one ever want to lose. Though due to the twists of life, it may happen that we may never met ( will try not to make this happen) but if think that we may not forget each other.

She is the kind who has a feeling that sharing your troubles with your best buddies makes you distress and the trust in your friend is the most important aspect of your life.

BUT BUT

For the last few weeks, I am seeing a drastic change in her. I am constantly thinking what made her change. She has lost her energy, completely ignoring, no talks, phones, msg etc. Something is really bugging her mind. She is not what she used to be. She is losing her originality. She is trying to to pretend someone else. She has a big big goal to accomplish but this resistance is creating problem for her. Her concentration is losing and she is feeling lost all the time. My observation is as what she has told me before going to the isolation mode.

I don’t think going to isolation will help her come out of this. She needs to be brave and face this distracting time and try to accomplish her goal. I am sure she will reach heights. This is the temporary phase i guess and she will be over it in no time.

PS: Dear S, i know you may not like what I am saying here, but believe me I am not saying anything wrong. I know i am no one to say anything in your personal traits but as a friend i think it’s my duty and i never ever like my friends to be in trouble and always try to help them in whatever possible way i can!

A Journey to Remember!

A Journey to Remember!
It was a cold typical day there in Twin Cities, Minneapolis. I had a flight to take back to Bengaluru, back to my country and followed by a flight to Delhi to travel to my home town. It was just a very normal day there and was bit excited to go back home and the weather was a bit pleasant that day as Americans says it but by Indian standards -22C can never be termed as a pleasant day.

Anyways, after packing all the stuff in that huge bag of mine and post doing all checking out formalities from my hotel, I called my daily taxi guy, Mahmood and as usual he was there in less than 10 mins to take to the St. Paul Airport. I had to take a Delta Airlines flight, approx. 7 hr. to Paris and then an Air France daily flight to Bengaluru. After doing my check-in, which was also a bit exhausted because of too much Christmas rush, I moved to the waiting lounge to rest as it’s another 2 hours I need to wait before boarding.

I was praying that I don’t get those kind of creepy guys around as they were when I was coming to Minneapolis ( it’s a long story)., still I was sure God is never with me during such kind of situations.
So, I started playing with the free iPads on airport, watching live stream of Packers playing (these Wisconsin guys are too lazy nowadays) and this girl next to me was continuously staring at my screen and I was thinking she seems to be a die-hard fan of packers (pun intended).

Then I heard an announcement related to my flight and it was something that they are changing the seats because some couples want to sit together and some don’t (strange it is, I think they fought on airport only and went to airlines guys to put them far on the plane). And this rejigs of the seats made the flight delayed by 30 minutes and I was getting bored and bored and hungry.

Finally, the boarding started and in 10 mins I was in plane searching for my seat 21A. I was going and going and suddenly I found it and what it was seeing was an astonishing sight. She was a girl in 20s sitting next to my seat. I can’t believe how in the earth a lady like that will be sitting next to me on a long flight. I was not able to remove my eyes out of her for some instant and suddenly a tall guy screamed “ Hey, you, are you gonna sit or just wanna travel standing” and my sense came back and I put my luggage in the overhead cabin and excused that lady to let me sit on my chair.

She was wearing red top, sporting boy cut short hair, nice long earnings and a cute smile. I was just staring at her as dumbstruck and suddenly she said “hey” and I was like, “Really, is she saying this to me”. I said Hey too and just tried to see out of window and the plane started taxing around and everyone had a sigh of relief that finally, it’s moving.

Caption said, it’s a bad weather out there so sit tight and we will be cruising soon and hope we will not hit the storm over the New York. So, in few minutes we were in Air, seeing the magnificent Twin Cities and its amazing lakes and the sightings. The lady in RED was just busy with her book. It was a book in French and I knew what she was reading because she was reading the book which I have finished only few days back and have seen all three season of Game of Thrones. SO, suddenly those pictures of Daneryssy, jeoffery, Starks and lannisters started coming to my mind and the plane was going in the clouds moving up and up.
I started seeing some videos on the screen but I kept looking at her face. So, in 45 mins or something we got something to drink and I had a glass of Juice which I have finished in a gulp and asked for the second one along with some peanuts and lady was looking at me (maybe she dint liked that :p). She was having her red wine and some peanuts which she has asked me if she should take as I have tasted them already.

So, post that I have started sipping it very slowly like she was doing and just tried to concentrate on the video on screen but in reality I my focus was going on her face again and again. Then, a crew member came and dumped my vegetarian food on my table like she dint liked that I was having the veg stuff instead of what all others were having. Anyway, I was busy with the video (and her face too), sipping my juice slowly and slowly. Then, after few minutes, plane started shaking suddenly and the sign to tie the seat belts switched ON and it’s started shaking more and both of us started looking at each other with a smile.

She told, we should take our liquids in our hands so they won’t get spilled on us. She put her book down and had her wine in her hard and I had my juice and at the same instant, something have happened and we got a major jerk and voila I was wet with the Wine and she with my juice. And people started screaming and the guys next to our seats had a coke on him.

The funny part was that the Wine spilled on top of my head and I was fully drenched with that red wine and you can see the wine on the windows, the cabin overhead and the people next to us. She was wet with the juice I had but I was the one who was completely soaked. Both of us started laughing hard while all other people were scared to death. Suddenly, I have realized that my veg food is on floor of the plane and I can feel that warm rice from my socks. So, it’s all fully messed up there.

Caption was screaming, please sit tight, there is more to come and it’s started shaking again and both of us were just laughing and laughing. She was apologizing to me for spilling her wine on top of my head and I was saying sorry to her spilling my juice on her top. She started looking for some tissues in her bag but she dint found and we were looking for crew to help us but everyone was stuck to their chairs and scared. Now that pungent wine smell started coming from my clothes and she was looking at my face. She said I can’t believe this had happened and saying how she will explain to her family back home as what exactly has happened.
Then soaked in those fluids we started chatting, asking each other names. She was Glenn, working in Chicago in a fashion magazine as a columnist and belongs to Lyon in France going there for Christmas vacations with her family. After sometime plane got settled and we got our tissues and she has changed to a nice white top and I have changed my shirt. Then our chatting started again with random things and about the France, palace of Versailles, Chicago, India and Game of Thrones.

She took out a map and explained how she will reach her home after renting a car from Charles De Gaulle airport and will go to Lyon. And after few hours we were flying over Paris where it was raining and the wind was strong too and pilot was not able to land. Pilot took a very long turn and tried to land three times but in vain and at last it started descending again from another point on a different runway and our pilot has landed the plane on 30 degrees and a jerk again and we were on the land and a sigh of relief.

Now, it was time for me bid adieu to Glen and what I see was she took the airlines blanket and stuffed in her bag and I was like WHAT. Still, I said “au revoir” and she said bye and we headed to our respective locations and this was how my journey ended till Paris with those moments which I will never forget in my life and that cute thief Glen too.

Though I have checked my wallet and other things to verify if the cuteness has made me poorer of some money buy thank god everything was intact except my box of chocolates. :p
So, the girl was a chocolate and blanket thief :p :p

Time for a Change

If you’re bored, feeling underpaid, under-appreciated, want to live in another part of the country or world (my reason for this move: to get back to San Diego) or you’re just too ambitious for your own good it’s okay to change jobs*. (*Just make sure you have the new one before you leave the old one! And never, ever burn bridges.)  :)

I am going to do this :)

Change is good; it reminds you you’re alive.

Swami Vivekananda's sayings

Swami Vivekananda is in the headlines for all the wrong reasons, because politicians today are maligning his name for their myopic purposes. However, one can, even today, take inspiration from his words:

1. Take up one idea. Make that one idea your life - think of it, dream of it, live on that idea. Let the brain, muscles, nerves, every part of your body, be full of that idea, and just leave every other idea alone. This is the way to success.

2. Be a hero. Always say, “I have no fear.” Tell this to everyone — “Have no fear.”
Fear is death, fear is sin, fear is hell, fear is unrighteousness, fear is wrong life. All the negative thoughts and ideas that are in the world have proceeded from this evil spirit of fear. Face the brute, which is a lesson for all life—face the terrible, face it boldly. The hardships of life fall back when we cease to flee before them.

3. We must have friendship for all; we must be merciful toward those that are in misery; when people are happy, we ought to be happy; and to the wicked we must be indifferent. These attitudes will make the mind peaceful.

4. Fill the brain with the high thoughts, the highest ideals, place them day and night before you, and out of that will come great work. Who will give the world light? Sacrifice in the past has been the Law, it will be, alas, for ages to come. The earth’s bravest and best will have to sacrifice themselves for the good of many, for the welfare of all.

5. Truth, purity, and unselfishness – whenever these are present, there is no power below or above the sun to crush the possessor thereof. Equipped with these, one individual is able to face the whole universe in opposition.

6. Everything can be sacrificed for truth, but truth cannot be sacrificed for anything.
Strength is the sign of vigour, the sign of life, the sign of hope, the sign of health, and the sign of everything that is good. As long as the body lives, there must be strength in the body, strength in the mind, strength in the hand.

7. Great work requires great and persistent effort for a long time. Character has to be established through a thousand stumbles. As different streams having different sources all mingle their waters in the sea, so different tendencies various though they appear, crooked or straight, all lead to God.

8. So long as millions live in hunger and ignorance, I hold every person a traitor who, having been educated at their expense, pays not the least heed to them.

9. We are what our thoughts have made us; so take care about what you think. Words are secondary. Thoughts live; they travel far.

10. Stand up, be bold, be strong. Take the whole responsibility on your own shoulders, and know that you are the creator of your own destiny. All the strength and succour you want is within yourselves. Therefore, make your own future.

11. Do not believe in a thing because you have read about it in a book. Do not believe in a thing because another man has said it was true. Do not believe in words because they are hallowed by tradition. Find out the truth for yourself. Reason it out. That is realization.
